Choosing memorial rings for ashes
Creating a memorial ring is one of the best ways of keeping someone special close to you after they’ve passed on. Wearing a piece of jewellery which contains a part of someone you shared such a powerful connection with can provide you with peace and comfort whenever you feel lost or lonely.
As memorial ash rings grow in popularity in the UK, more customisation options become available across the nation. One one hand, having so many different pieces to choose from means you can create the perfect tribute to your loved one. But on the other hand, having to make so many decisions can often leave you feeling overwhelmed and exhausted.
You don’t need to get lost amongst the myriad of memorial rings in the UK to design your perfect keepsake. Here’s a quick guide on how to choose the best memento to suit you while honouring your loved one in the way they deserve.
Design
The first step when picking out memorial rings is to choose your favourite design. At Heart In Diamond, we offer more than 900 different ring designs, each of which is unique and beautiful in its own way. Scroll through the designs until the perfect one jumps out at you.
You might find it helpful to think about how often you’ll wear the ring. If you’ll wear it everyday, consider a simple design which won’t hinder your day-to-day activities. If you’re only planning on wearing the ring on special occasions, go all out and choose an extravagant style.
Metal
After choosing the design for your memorial ring for ashes, you need to decide on the metal type. We have five different metal types available:
- 9k white gold
- 9k yellow gold
- 18k white gold
- 18k yellow gold
- Platinum
The type of metal you opt for should be based on which colour you prefer, how often you’ll wear your ring and your budget.
If you can’t settle on a metal type, move onto the next step and return after you’ve chosen your diamond. You might find it easier to choose after you know what the diamond will look like.
Diamond
The most important part of making a memorial ring is to design the diamond. This unique cremation gemstone made from the ashes of your lost loved one will be the most precious element of your ring that you’ll treasure forever.
There are three things you need to decide on when choosing your cremation diamond: colour, cut and carat.
Colour
We create diamonds in five colours:
- Orange-yellow
- Yellow-green
- Deep red
- Blue
- White
You can choose the diamond colour simply by picking the one which looks most aesthetically appealing to you or try to choose a colour which represents the person you want to remember. The choice is yours.
Cut
Next step is to choose the shape of the diamond. The three standard shapes we offer are:
- Brilliant
- Princess
- Radiant
Before making this decision, check which diamond cuts are compatible with the style of ring you chose. Some styles are suitable for all cuts of diamonds, while others only one with one cut.
We’re happy to create a bespoke cremation diamond if you want a cut not covered by the three above. To discuss your options, please get in touch.
Carat
The final stage is to decide which carat you’d prefer. We create memorial diamonds in a vast range of carat sizes, from 0.10 carats all the way up to 2 carats.
Not all diamond carats are suitable for all ring designs nor diamond colours. So make sure you cross-check with your preferred design and colour to find out which diamond carats are available.
A precious gift you’ll cherish forever
After suffering the loss of a loved one, it’s only natural to want to reclaim the connection you shared with them and keep them close. Memorial rings with ashes from the person you lost can help you feel closer to them and act as a constant reminder of the wonderful times you both shared.
While memories will fade over time and personal possessions will be shared between family members, the unique memorial ring you made will never disappear, providing you with a physical reminder you can hold onto forever.
